30 June 2023

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICS are pleased to publish our first Joint Forward Plan (JFP).

The JFP outlines how we will work across health and care, to deliver health and care services to people living in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent over the next five years.

The ICB, NHS provider Trusts, local authorities, and our voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) partners have worked together to write the plan.

The ambitions and priorities set out in in the JFP have been informed by national policy and guidance, understanding the needs of our population and through engagement with our local people and communities.

The JFP sets out how we will balance delivery of the ambitions set out in the Integrated Care Partnership Strategy, and our operational plans for 2023 and 2024.

The publication of the plan is just the beginning.  It will be updated at the beginning of each financial year to

  • take account of implementation and outcomes over the previous year
  • reflect any changes required from new guidance or emerging issues, be they related to population health, feedback from our people and communities, or service delivery issues and opportunities.

It will be reviewed regularly to also monitor the progress we are making.

What is in our Plan

We have split our JFP into three parts.

From reading Part 1 of the plan, you will read about:

  • why we need a JFP
  • our priorities and ambitions
  • how we will work together
  • our enablers to success including digital and people.

In Part 2 you will read about:

  • our finance strategy
  • our wider system development ambitions
  • a range of themes which go across all our work, such as personalised care, integration and working with our voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) partners.

Part 3 of the plan is a series of appendices which:

  • summarise how we will meet the statutory requirements placed on the ICB
  • an overview of portfolio high-level deliverable timelines
  • provide copies of supporting documents referred to in the main body of the document.

We hope you will take some time to read through our Joint Forward Plan (JFP) A summary document can also be found here.

Ongoing Engagement and feedback

The JFP is informed by a range of engagement activities, including the work undertaken to develop the ICP Strategy during 2022/23, audits and other sources of intelligence. We have a rolling plan of engagement to help us listen to the views and experiences of local people and communities and make sure this influences the way we deliver the priorities and ambitions outlined

As part of our ongoing engagement on the JFP, a public survey is published alongside it, which builds up on previous public and patient involvement work. The findings from the survey will be used to shape our future priorities and plans and inform the refresh of the JFP.  Please complete our feedback survey on the Joint Forward Plan.
