Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) is partnership that plays an integral role in shaping local maternity and neonatal care across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Comprised of a team of dedicated volunteers, known as Maternity and Neonatal Champions, local service users, midwives, neonatal nurses, doctors, commissioners, providers, and third party sector organisations. The MNVP works together to review and contribute to the development and improvement of local maternity and neonatal care.

MNVP’s primary objective is to gather feedback from women/birthing people and their families about their experiences with maternity and/or neonatal services. This information is then utilised to help shape the future of local maternity and neonatal services and to drive forward improvements in the care offered and provided. By listening to the voices of service users and their families, MNVP can help ensure that the needs of all those who rely on these services are met.

Maternity and Neonatal Champions

Crucial to the work of MNVP, is the Maternity and Neonatal Champions, who are volunteers from the local service user community. MNVP is always looking for new volunteers to take on this important work and is currently actively increasing the number of champions across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Additionally, they have launched a targeted campaign that aims to increase the diversity of champions by reaching out to groups that have been historically underrepresented in these positions.

The targeted campaign will specifically focus on recruiting champions from a range of backgrounds. This includes dads, members of the LGBTQ community, Ethnic Minority communities, young mums, traveller communities, and those with differing abilities. By recruiting champions from these diverse backgrounds, MNVP hopes to better represent the needs of all service users

This collaborative work will help to improve the quality of maternity and neonatal services across the region. This is done by ensuring that the voices of those who rely on these services are heard and taken into account. With the help of their champions, MNVP can continue to drive forward improvements in local maternity and neonatal care. Ensuring that it remains of the highest quality possible for all service users and their families.
