Sally worked at Leighton Hospital near Crewe at the start of her NHS career and then retrained as a primary school teacher when her children were young.   

Since returning to the NHS in 2004, she has worked in a number of roles across primary care including commissioning, corporate affairs and governance.

Working with the clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in Staffordshire since they were authorised in 2011, Sally led on the authorisation and governance processes from the very beginning.

In her previous role, she continued to lead the Corporate Services, Governance and Communication functions across the six CCGs in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. She has led on the transfer of staff and functions from the CCGs into the NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) since 2020.

Making governance arrangements simple and effective for the ICB and helping the public understand these arrangements is what drives Sally – and she is committed to doing in the new ICB. She also wants to support the wider ICB team to become the best they can be and will use her coaching style of leadership to do this. Sally has a passion for making patient and public engagement real, and reaching out to the wider population to do this.
