Dr Edmondson-Jones is already well known and respected within the local health and care system, in his previous role as Director of Adult Social Care, Health Integration and Wellbeing and Director of Public Health at Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
He was thrilled to be recognised as the Local Authority Corporate Director of Year at the Management Journal Awards in 2021.
After training in Scotland, he spent 23 years as an Army Doctor, working worldwide, supporting the Gurkha Rifles in the Falklands War of 1982 and commanding the British Medical Battalion with the United Nations in the Former Yugoslavia in 1993.
Dr Edmondson-Jones was awarded the MBE in the Gulf War Honours List in 1992.
He joined the NHS in 2000 and was the Director of Public Health for Portsmouth City Teaching PCT for 12 years before moving as Director of Public Health for City of York Council, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, and Hartlepool Borough Council between 2012 and 2018.
